Once you have your quit decided, it is important that you write down your promise to yourself. Silly as it sounds, this is a great way to find the road to being your non-smoking self once again!
Our minds are powerful things, and can change the path that we follow with our initial decision each and every day. We can decide when we are going to wake, eat and what we are going to do each day. We decide how we can rest and relax, and react to the stress in our lives.
If you have lived with smoking for years, chances are you are ready for a change. The fear of the decision sometimes will keep you from following through with the decision, but it does not have to be like that. The best decision you can make, is the one that is the hardest, and quitting smoking is a good decision.
Without the ability to live in the present, you will often digress and think about the past in ways that you do not need in your quest to move into a new life. In order to become the best person you have envisioned, you need to forgive your past life decisions, and let them disappear. This step, is very important. When you constantly keep your mind in the past, and think about the past in this way, and never forgive yourself and others for things that pain you, you are not living in the now. You are always stuck in the past.
Too many people are stuck in the past. They never get a chance to move into the present. This keeps them always remembering the regrets, the anger, the sadness and the past anxieties. The past is the present for these poor souls. Without a transition, there is never a step forward into the future. You are always living in the past, and not evolving forward into the future.
If you are moving in this past, you cannot do any new lifestyle changes. If you want to lose weight, you will not do it until you forgive your past, and move into a lovely new present day and time. The most amazing part of this process is you have a momentum that will allow you to change your lifestyle with a smoking quit that will never end.
The best quit starts with a change of time perception, and happiness in the present time and moment. When you forgive yourself for every little thing that happened in the past, you can move forward to find your life into a great new way of life. Your life is waiting for your evolution into the present, and the step you can make to become the best new life you have always dreamed of.
If you are quitting to make someone happy in your life, or at your doctors advice alone, and really are not convinced that a quit smoking pledge is your best option, you will not succeed at your quit. You can be unselfish, and try to do it for your family or friends, but really the only person you need to quit for, is in fact, yourself and yourself alone. The reason that many quits start and end, is because the mission of the quit really resides with another loved one or another suggestion from a health care provider.
True, the positive and motivational help from family and friends can be very important, but you really do not need anyone’s support to succeed in your quit. Even if you are in a group of smokers, and they all think you are crazy if you and you alone want to quit, you will succeed. The motivation does not come from anyone else. If you believe that you are a non-smoker, and have only been on a path of smoking temporarily, you can find your quit and make it stick.
Your decision needs to be firm, and yours alone. It takes a mountain of resolution to get through the first 14 days, but you can do it. The physical aspects of nicotine will drop out of your life easily and quickly, but you do not have to be saddened by any of the hardship you may feel during these tempting days, as your resolution to quit, is with you, and it is important for you to stick with the path you have decided to follow.
Remaining resolute and firm with your quit is all in your stubborn and dedicated decision of yourself. If you are not sure, even 1%, you will have a real challenge. Do not start your quit, until you are certain, and certain by 100% that you will be successful. You need to ensure yourself that you are really ready to remain in the present, and change for today.

If you have decided that your quit is arriving soon, and you are really ready, I am so happy and excited for you! Here is what you can do in the meantime, and what you should try to start while you learn how to be a non-smoker once again.
It can be annoying, but you need to really commit to yourself and let yourself become a new non-smoker once again. It is important that you have all of your commitment written down, because there could be gray days ahead, and it takes every ounce of your energy to do this new life. You are going to have wars with yourself once and awhile, and while your quit is fresh and new, it is a good idea to write down how excited and ready you are. These new ideas are going to get so distant as the cravings and issues come up. Having your own voice recorded or written down will be very comforting and powerful during the whirlwind of addiction and recovery.
Once you decide you are going to quit, it will be easy to find a way to think your way out of your quit. Sometimes these are the silliest and most annoying problems that brought you smoking in the first place. You can really revolt these ideas into the best and new ideas if you want to. Do not worry about why they started to grow and take root in your mind initially, once you are fully past them, you can look back then to decide how they started. It will be a great exercise in the future!
For now, you will need to write down each and every excuse you have for why you are a smoker. They go something like this:
I will get fat if I continue to smoke
I will not think clearly if I do not smoke
I will be agitated and angry if I do not smoke
etc, etc! You will find each one of these reasons as utter ridiculousness when you finally let them voice their evil little heads. If you are really in a place of your new non-smoking mindset, you will realize that every one of your excuses, are just propaganda. They do not have to be! You have made them breathe as a smoker, they existed as true while you were smoking. If you decide that the new mindset is true, and your old negative path was not real, it isn’t. Simple as that!
What can you do to improve this new positive edge you have? While you keep smoking, tear down your excuses and reasons that keep you smoking. Each time some idea comes into your head, write it down. These are the building blocks of why you still smoke!
Why do you smoke? It is true that it is an addiction, and a chemical addiction to nicotine. Just as true, however, is the excuse factory you have churning in your mind about why you need to smoke. It is a busy place!
